About The Position

Akaal Pet Hospital is hiring a Veterinarian for their full-service animal hospital located in Citrus Heights, CA, which sees cats and dogs. This position is open to both part-time and full-time inquiries. The clinic emphasizes creating happy vets and happy pets. The clinic is a respected animal hospital in the community and is seeking another part-time DVM to work alongside the established Medical Director. Services offered include orthopedic, soft tissue, reconstructive, and oncologic surgery, as well as pet wellness and preventative care such as vaccinations, microchipping, dental care, behavior counseling, check-ups, lab work, testing, and an online pharmacy. The hospital has dedicated staff with excellent patient care, client communication, and teamwork, making it a great environment for a veterinarian to utilize their medicine and surgery skills. They are open to hiring experienced veterinarians or new graduates, offering mentorship or opportunities for more experienced DVMs to build their client base. The practice type is small animal general practice with a focus on pet wellness and preventative medicine, and a strong, varied surgical caseload. The average daily patient volume is approximately 12 per DVM, with a support staff ratio of about 3:1 per DVM. The case mix includes GP wellness, exotics, and soft-tissue, orthopedic, reconstructive, and oncologic surgical procedures, as well as dentistry. Technology and equipment include ultrasound, digital radiographs (regular and dental), and in-house lab machines (CBC, Chemistries, Urine, Vcheck). The team culture is described as dedicated to excellent patient care, client communication, and teamwork, with multiple techs and assistants and one highly skilled DVM.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • Compassionate, client-centered approach to care.
