About The Position

Small Door is a membership-based veterinary care service that aims to provide a superior experience for pets, pet parents, and veterinarians. They offer exceptional care, 24/7 telemedicine, and transparent pricing through a modern, hospitality-driven approach in stress-free environments designed by animal experts. Founded in Manhattan's West Village in 2019, Small Door has expanded across the East Coast, including New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, with further expansion planned for 2026. Veterinarians at Small Door are part of a supportive and collaborative network focused on professional growth, benefiting from 30-60 minute appointments, dedicated administrative time, and skilled veterinary nurses. The NYC Float Veterinarian role involves working four 10-hour days per week, traveling between select NYC practices, and reporting to the Chief Medical Officer. This position offers the chance to explore different parts of NYC with the potential to eventually settle into a home practice.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent with an active NYS license and a federal DEA license or ability to receive one
  • Professional approach, excellent interpersonal skills, strong communicator, and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Committed to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the code of ethics
  • Thrives in team-oriented environment
  • Has a ‘glass half full’ attitude and a sense of humor!
  • Comfortable working in our five NYC practices (Manhattan and Brooklyn) and receiving your schedule 6 weeks in advance
  • Comfortable working a maximum of 3 weekend days per month

Responsibilities

  • Deliver superior client experience and best-in-class medicine via Small Door's framework and medical protocols throughout our NYC practices
  • Diagnose and treat pets with illnesses and injuries
  • Keep detailed digital records and diligent client communication
  • Administer core vaccinations and counsel clients in preventative medicine
