About The Position

Rocky River Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced part-time veterinarian to join their collaborative team. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who values relationship-based medicine, enjoys working with an experienced team, and is passionate about creating positive experiences for patients through Fear Free techniques. The hospital is committed to providing compassionate, modern veterinary care in a supportive and sustainable work environment. They are particularly interested in a veterinarian who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and mentoring newer doctors. This is not a high-volume, high-pressure environment, and doctors are supported by an experienced team to focus on patient care, client communication, and medical decision-making. The hospital offers a mix of wellness, sick visits, surgery, and dentistry, with a strong technician and support staff, an established, loyal client base, and modern diagnostic and treatment capabilities. The position is part-time with closed weekends, focusing on Fear Free patient handling, comfortable appointment pacing, collaborative case discussions, and strong technician support, ensuring predictable scheduling and work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
