About The Position

Sarasota Animal Hospital in Sarasota, Florida is seeking a veterinarian to join their supportive, collaborative team. This opportunity can be part-time or full-time, with a flexible schedule designed to support excellent work-life balance. Sarasota Animal Hospital is a well-established, one-doctor practice that has been proudly serving its community since 1979. They are supported by a collaborative team that includes three relief veterinarians, three licensed veterinary technicians, and six technician assistants, creating a smooth and efficient clinical environment. The facilities include three exam rooms, Digital X-ray, Dental X-ray, Ultrasound, and Laser therapy, which allow for comprehensive in-house diagnostics and support a broad range of medical and surgical cases. The position is for an Associate Veterinarian to join the team in a collaborative, patient-focused environment, offering the opportunity to assist with and develop surgical skills alongside existing cases within the practice. Both part-time and full-time schedules are available with flexibility.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
