The primary purpose and function of the Relief Veterinarian is to provide preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of Pets. This role ensures the safety of Pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. The veterinarian will obtain relevant information and history from clients, maintain proper and complete medical records, and educate clients about preventative care, Pet health needs, diagnoses, treatments, and hospital services. The role involves providing professional, efficient, and exceptional service, including prescribing and administering preventative care and diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries. Effective communication of diagnosis and treatment plans to the veterinary medical team and client is essential. The veterinarian must also ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including proper maintenance of the controlled substance inventory log, and understand state guidelines regarding the duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
