About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Veterinarian Hospitalist to provide medical oversight to a variety of hospitalized veterinary patients. You will join our large referral team setting where we have 7 criticalists combined in both of our Pittsburgh locations and a house officer program consisting of rotating interns, emergency and critical care interns and residents, and surgical interns and residents. As a Veterinarian Hospitalist you will: Diagnose and treat animals with illnesses and injuries. Evaluates patient status, make timely treatment and diagnostic plans/orders, administer medications, interpret diagnostic test results, communicate effectively with the pet owner/client and primary care veterinarian, and collaborate on patient care with other veterinarians within the practice. Dress animal wounds and treats animals with fractures. Write prescriptions for sick animals. Complete appropriate documentation and request referrals from other specialists as needed. Serve as a hospital leader in setting a pleasant, engaging, and professional work environment.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree required.
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine in this state.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with the ability to make rapid and accurate assessments in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate bedside manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a rotating internship or residency in emergency and critical care preferred but not required.
