ArkVets took over a practice in limbo that had been open for over 30 years. Throughout those years, the practice has cared for dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, horses, and even the occasional rabbit and hamster. After purchasing the practice in 2017, ArkVets began the most important project of all, caring for and developing our own Tribe members. Veterinary medicine is considered by many to be one of the most challenging industries to work in. The hours are long, the pay is typically low, and staff often cannot provide optimal care for animals due to financial restrictions or other limitations from the owners. Sadly, there are many clinics where the medical care is not up to standards, and some do not have the equipment and supplies needed to provide that care. ArkVets was founded on the belief that together we can change the veterinary practice environment for our teams – to one where it is possible to make a difference for the pet, its owner, and our Tribe. It first required the realization that veterinary medicine is not just a job. It is a calling. Our purpose was twofold: to create a place where staff could thrive both personally and professionally and to provide our clients with excellent care when and where they need it. We want to leave behind a positive legacy whether our people stay or go (but seriously, please stay FOR—EV--ER – get the “Sandlot” reference? Anyone?) Today we are a growing, thriving group of hospitals offering a hybrid model of high quality general practice with a dedicated urgent care service. We provide ongoing training to our Tribe for personal growth, medical knowledge and skills, and client/patient care. We are locally owned, with leadership paths in place for our doctors. We have set up our hospitals to be able to provide modernized services such as CT, endoscopy, full in-house labs, ultrasound, and digital radiology. We follow AAHA standards by providing all elective surgeries with fluid therapy, safe up-to-date anesthesia, and full monitoring. All dentistry cases get full mouth radiology or CT imaging. We do not pretend to say that we have figured it out and sometimes our eagerness to try new things too soon has greatly humbled us. We have learned quite a bit through our inevitable human errors, but we are willing to apologize, ask for feedback, and make efforts to do better. We're seeking someone who aligns with our team culture and values, as these principles shape our actions and contribute to the unique and positive atmosphere within our team. Here is what matters to us as a team: We Do the Right Thing - We serve with integrity, exceed expectations, intend to leave our profession better than when we joined it. We Make Magic Happen - We take care of each other, We are fun-loving; We have positive vibes and our energy changes lives (humans and pets). We Have Contagious Curiosity - We seek to expand our knowledge, we value professional development, we are engaged by taking an active role in making our workplace successful and positive. If you like purpose-driven change and experimenting with new ways of providing the best care to our patients, clients, and staff, then this will be heaven for you! We love advancing our standard of care and if you do too, then look no further! Phew! You’ve made it this far! Now, let’s talk about this role: You will be performing consultations for both sick and well pets, diagnostics, elective and emergency surgeries including dentistry, and other medical/surgical treatments. There is no on-call and we don’t work on Sundays!
