About The Position

Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center (EPVMC) in Allentown, PA is seeking a compassionate and skilled Board Eligible or Board Certified Criticalist. EPVMC is a busy 24/7 emergency and referral hospital equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools, including a 64-slice CT, 1.5T MRI, ultrasound, laser, and endoscopy. Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree or equivalent degree
Board Certified or Board Eligible Veterinary Criticalist
Ability to attain PA Veterinary License

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage ICU patients, including trauma, sepsis, shock, respiratory distress, metabolic crises, and postoperative critical cases.
Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including point-of-care ultrasound, arterial/central line placement, and continuous hemodynamic monitoring.
Provide expert guidance on emergency stabilization, triage, and case management for ER and ICU staff.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and ongoing updates.
Collaborate with specialty departments (surgery, internal medicine, neurology, etc.) to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Lead and participate in CPR events following RECOVER guidelines.
Contribute to the development and improvement of ICU protocols, workflows, and training programs.
Mentor and support veterinarians, technicians, and support staff through rounds, case reviews, and teaching opportunities.
