About The Position

The Opportunity: Washington State University (WSU) Global Campus is seeking a Veteran’s Enrollment Coordinator who embodies teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to creating communication strategies that support the unique aspect of online learners and the teams that support them. This newly established position will play a critical role in coordinating the awarding of financial entitlements to eligible Global Campus veteran students. The position seeks to enhance the brand presence of a campus that has been dedicated to online and distance delivered education for over 30 years. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterans affairs, a creative mindset, and the ability to work cohesively with a diverse team. Reporting to the WSU Global Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the Veterans Coordinator ensures that students eligible for Veterans Administration (VA) educational benefits receive their entitlements in a timely and appropriate manner. This position advises and provides information to prospective and continuing veteran students regarding the utilization of VA education benefits. The Veterans Coordinator performs duties in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs procedures outlined in the U.S. Code and 38 Code of Federal Regulations and oversees the coordination and operation of a specialized program. Additionally, this position assists in developing strategies to recruit and retain military-affiliated students. The role also provides guidance to WSU Global Campus Marketing and Communications and Student Affairs in creating resources, materials, events, and training that enhance the experience of military-affiliated students. Additional Information: This is a Remote/Telework position with the successful candidate performing the position duties from their home location. This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
  • Minimum bandwidth of 4.0Mbps for upload and download.
  • Familiarity with Department of Veterans Affairs regulations, U.S. Code, and 38 CFR related to educational benefits.
  • Strong understanding of higher education policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and apply state and federal regulations (e.g., RCWs).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for compliance and audit requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for advising and outreach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a VA Certifying Official or in a similar compliance role.
  • Military service background or prior work with military-affiliated students.
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and student account processes.
  • Experience in recruitment, marketing, or event planning for higher education.
  • Familiarity with online learning environments and virtual student supports.
