About The Position

This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan. The program is intended to meet the employment needs of honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces as they transition into the civilian workforce. MDOT is partnering with nationwide service-related organizations to fill needed positions for our veterans.

Requirements

  • Be an honorably discharged veteran.
  • Attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application.
  • Attach a detailed resume and cover letter.
  • Submit and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Submit and pass a physical (if applicable).
  • Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • No specific type or amount of experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with acknowledgment programs.
  • Assist with registering participants in the Technical Training Program.
  • Provide support to the Horatio S. Earle Learning Center (HSELC) by answering telephones, sending and receiving emails and faxes, and assisting walk-in customers and guests with conference room reservations.
  • Reserve, maintain, and offer customer assistance for audio-visual (AV) equipment in each conference room, as well as computers in the training labs.
  • Monitor conference room schedules.
  • Assist with the movement of wall panels.
  • Open and close the center as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
