About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in two distinct settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals, making a difference in the lives of pets daily. As a relief veterinarian, you will benefit from flexible online scheduling with no minimum or maximum shift requirements, offering a variety of weekday and weekend hours. You have the freedom to set your own compensation rate for each shift and can continue other practice activities without agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, ensuring on-time departures, while trained staff handle operations, allowing you to focus on patient care. You will stay informed through a monthly newsletter and receive a 15% discount on all Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics focus on basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, primarily located within Petco stores or advanced mobile van units, and do not provide surgeries, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer a comprehensive range of services, including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals are equipped with digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff ensure high standards of care, with no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Petco provides access to high-quality veterinary care across 48 states.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
  • Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including the ability to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
  • DEA in good standing required for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts
  • Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
  • Compliance with all local state and federal mandates

Responsibilities
