About The Position
Betty Baugh's Animal Clinic in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their AAHA-accredited, well-established small animal practice. This full-time position offers a collaborative and supportive 7-doctor team environment where assistants and technicians are respected, utilized, and supported. The clinic provides comprehensive and progressive small animal care, equipped to handle routine to emergency services. Richmond, Virginia, offers a vibrant quality of life with a rich cultural scene, growing food reputation, and outdoor activities. The clinic is conveniently located on Patterson Avenue.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.

Responsibilities
- Assist with venipuncture and patient restraint
- Support patient care and treatment workflows
- Understand and apply core vs. lifestyle vaccine protocols
- Utilize medical terminology in a clinical setting
- Work closely with veterinarians and technicians to deliver excellent care
- Provide Essential Patient Care: assisting the medical team with hands-on care
- Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow
- Create a Positive Client Experience: assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance
