About The Position

AHC Rehabilitation - Musgrove seeks to hire an experienced Vestibular Physical Therapist for our Rehabilitation center at Musgrove who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Vestibular Physical Therapist, you will perform initial examinations and evaluations to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings. You will provide, or direct and supervise, therapy intervention consistent with the examination results, involving the patient/client and appropriate others in the plan of care. The therapist will re-examine the patient/client as necessary to evaluate progress or changes in status and modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue services. Planning for discharge, considering goal achievement and expected outcomes, and providing appropriate follow-up or referral is also a key responsibility. Communication, coordination, and documentation of all aspects of patient/client management, including results of examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, prognoses, plans of care, interventions, responses to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in status, reexaminations, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention, with members of the care team is essential. You will also supervise and direct patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers, manage schedules to accommodate census and patient load, and attend team meetings to effectively communicate patient status. Responsibilities include individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities, and educating and providing consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals, students, and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy. Mentoring and supporting students during their clinical practices in patient-centered care is also part of the role.

Requirements

Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational therapy from accredited occupational therapy program or from an educationally equivalent international program.
Minimum 2 years’ experience (at least 1 year in setting preferred)
Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

Performs an initial examination and evaluation to establish a impairment/diagnosis, prognosis and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation settings (flexes to any Rehab site as needed).
Provides, or directs and supervises, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. The therapist involves the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care.
Reexamines the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status and modifies the plan of care accordingly or discontinues physical therapy services.
The physical therapist, in consultation with appropriate disciplines, plans for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provides for appropriate follow-up or referral.
The physical therapist discontinues intervention when the patient/client is unable to continue to progress toward goals or when the physical therapist determines that the patient/client will no longer benefit from therapy (in coordination with referring provider/team where indicated).
Communicates, coordinates and documents all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated.
Supervises and directs the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants and volunteers.
Manages schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load and informs management of any issues with caseload management.
Attends team meetings and effectively communicates patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case.
Responsible for individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities.
Educates and provides consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals, students and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy.
Mentors and supports students during their clinical practices, in patient-centered care.
