Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Heavy Assembler II to join its Vertical Turbine Pump Assembly team. As our new Vertical Pump Assembler II, you will be assembling, testing, and packaging vertical and horizontal pumps and complete pumping systems — combining precision mechanical work with welding, electrical connections, and hydraulic testing to deliver reliable solutions. Requirements

  • Mechanically skilled assembler with welding capability
  • Strong blueprint-reading skills
  • Hands-on precision to build and test complex pumping systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with vocational training in electrical, welding, precision measuring, or blueprint reading
  • Current welding certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to read engineering drawings/schematics and apply math to fabrication calculations
  • Proficiency with manual, power-driven, and pneumatic hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, forklifts)
  • Veterans with related technical MOS experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience assembling vertical and/or horizontal pumps
  • Forklift license and crane lift rigging experience
  • Familiarity with SAP, LabVIEW, and Lean manufacturing concepts

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair vertical and horizontal pumps; build package units by combining pumps with components and accessories into complete pumping systems
  • Mount pumps and accessories to base plates using mechanical fasteners and welding; make electrical connections up to 480V 3-phase and mechanical connections
  • Set up and perform hydraulic pressure tests, performance tests, and run tests on pumps and pumping systems, recording all results accurately
  • Perform precision operations including drilling, tapping, fitting, reaming, honing, polishing, and acetylene cutting as required for mounting and leak repair
  • Inspect components prior to assembly for suitability; read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine assembly procedures and troubleshoot issues
  • Provide training and instruction to team members while promoting safety, quality, and Lean manufacturing practices
