About The Position

This position performs responsible semiskilled work supporting events at the Mizner Park Amphitheater and other locations owned or operated by the city as needed. Under the supervision of the Amphitheater Events Coordinator, coordinates the work of contracted workers and vendors and performs semiskilled work, performing a variety of construction, repair, and maintenance assignments involving the use of common tools. Schedule includes evening or weekend work, as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in facility maintenance and/or event operations required
  • Possession of a valid Florida Class “E” driver’s license
  • Must successfully complete City-provided lift and forklift operator training and obtain/maintain the required certification
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

  • Ability to Effectively handle situations that arise before, during, and after events.
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, departmental officials, vendors, clients, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and minor repairs of City facilities and event space
  • Assists event and production staff with event preparation and clean up
  • Coordinates and prepares event space such as set up and take down of chairs, tables, barricades, fencing, and decoration
  • Coordinates, oversees, and supports the services of vendors and contractors working for the City
  • Manages hours and duties of on-site contract labor and cleaning personnel
  • Acts as City’s on-site representative before, during and after events
  • Unlocks and locks facilities
  • Stocks and restocks bathroom, cleaning, and other supplies
  • Maintains chairs, tables, barricades and equipment
  • Assists with loading and unloading materials
  • Works with other City staff to ensure the safety of event attendees
  • Resolves issues and situations relating to events and programs
  • Provides information and answers questions from event and production staff
  • Lays sod to facility grounds
  • Works with staff to coordinate and supervise large venue/grounds projects conducted by outside vendors
  • Operates or demonstrates operation of facility equipment such as lift
  • Operates and resets electrical breaker and electrical systems
  • Assists with clean-up of events including trash removal and chair and table collection and storage
  • Identifies facility repair projects and reports to supervisor
  • Prepares work orders and collaborates with Facility Maintenance staff to coordinate skilled repairs and maintenance
  • Schedules routine maintenance of equipment and City vehicle
  • Completes and maintains reports, checklists, manuals, and other paperwork
  • Research contracts for venue-related purchasing
  • Coordinates with other City staff, including Facility Maintenance, Recreation Services, Purchasing, I.T., Municipal Services, Police Services and Fire Rescue Services personnel as needed
  • Prepares/orders supplies and tracks venue inventory
