About The Position

Leads a group of 3 or more route drivers ensuring work led complies with instructions and NEX policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Total of 3 years experience consisting of: One year of general experience that provided knowledge and skill to carry out basic retail selling and inventory duties and the ability to prepare merchandise transfer documentation.
  • 2 years of specialized experience that provided the applicant with the knowledge and skill to perform various duties involving the maintenance and cleaning of vending machines, money changing machines, collecting, cleaning, and relocating machines, etc.
  • General experience with fixing machines.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license or a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and consistent record of safe driving.
  • Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility (e.g., Federal DOD Security Clearance).
  • Pass the GSA defensive driving course.
  • Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and medical requirements and pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a minimum of 3 or more performing same work ensuring sequence of operations are adhered in accordance with NEX policies and procedures.
  • Provides input to supervisor regarding adequate staffing needs, work methods, and changes in work assignments based on observation of work performed by group led.
  • Takes necessary action to ensure economical use and protection of supplies, tools, equipment, and cash.
  • Responsible for passing on Vending Route instructions and setting the pace for accomplishing the vending functions.
  • Answers questions on procedures, ensures schedules and priorities are adhered to, and keeps supervisor informed of work assignments and advises on all problems as well as areas of concern.
  • Provides input to supervisor regarding work performance appraisals and leave requests to ensure staff levels are maintained to achieve work.
  • Reviews route inventory over short for machines and trucks, ensuring all route and truck inventory is completed by designated guidelines.
  • Inspects route machines to ensure adherence to vending policies and procedures (e.g., cleanliness, accurate pricing, expiration dates, calorie disclosure).
  • Operates a motor vehicle to transport merchandise, supplies, and materials to and from Navy Exchanges and other designated locations.
  • Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or dolly, ensuring cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured, and that the vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity.
  • Prepares and maintains Daily Trip Report of all trips made.
  • Performs the same work as associates led.
  • Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle.
  • Maintains Exchange owned machines daily, inspects and replenishes merchandise, and checks refrigerated machines for health code adherence (e.g., expiration dates, spoilage).
  • Removes expired foods or other merchandise from machines.
  • Sets up and maintains prices in machines and maintains a current price list.
  • Assists in relocating and installing new machines at locations, cleans interiors and exteriors, and makes settings and adjustments on dispensing units.
  • Prepares Cash Collection Slip SS 411.
  • Inspects and tests machines to ensure they are working properly, clearing minor discrepancies like jams.
  • Collects monies from vending machines at locations according to established schedule.
  • Accompanies Vending Contractors verifying cash taken from contractor owned machines.
  • Collects cash from car wash soap, bleach, and other miscellaneous items sold by machine.
  • Counts and prepares Vending Machine Cash Collection Slip SS 411.
  • Clears coin jams and makes refunds at designated locations.
  • Performs inspection of vehicle for proper maintenance (e.g., checking gas and oil, required oil change, tune-ups).
  • Cleans vehicle and secures it in a designated area at the end of the day.
  • Obtains receipts for all repairs and maintains records of repairs made.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles.
  • May be assigned to clean and maintain the area in which machines are located, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning machines, and emptying trash cans.
  • Operates under general supervision of a designated manager.
  • Refers unusual problems to the manager for guidance and resolution.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
