This role is responsible for completing new public safety vehicle upfits as well as performing service and warranty repairs on previously upfitted vehicles. The ideal candidate has strong 12V electrical experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of 12V electrical systems
  • Proficient in wiring, crimping, soldering, and harness installation
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and build instructions
  • Experience with interior vehicle disassembly and reassembly without damage
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple work orders and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from leadership
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and work order systems)
  • Valid Texas driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, fleet, or vehicle upfitting
  • Experience with new upfits for public safety or fleet vehicles
  • Exposure to service or warranty repair work

Responsibilities

  • Complete new vehicle upfits, including installation of: emergency lighting, sirens, push bumpers, partitions, consoles, camera systems, radios, antennas, and related wiring/harnesses
  • Perform service and warranty repairs on previously upfitted vehicles, including diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, repairing equipment malfunctions and installation defects
  • Execute high-quality wiring, soldering, crimping, loom routing, and harness installation
  • Safely disassemble and reassemble vehicle interiors, dashboards, trim panels, and headliners without damage
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation instructions
  • Complete assigned builds and repair jobs within production timelines while maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Perform self-quality checks prior to final inspection
  • Accurately document installation progress, parts used, labor, and issues on each work order
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure proper tool care
  • Participate in ongoing training and skills development
  • Follow all company safety protocols, installation standards, and quality guidelines
