About The Position

The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of mountain operational equipment. This includes snowcats, snowmobiles, buses, plow trucks, sanding trucks, 4x4 pickups, and heavy machinery. A strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and hydrostatic drive systems is essential. The position supports the grooming operations vital to Mission Ridge’s ski product and requires a hands-on, safety-conscious, and collaborative individual.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of on-the-job mechanical experience is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems using hand, power, and specialized tools.
  • Basic computer and office skills or the willingness to learn them.
  • Must be able to lift or move objects weighing 100 pounds or more safely.
  • Good vision—including color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception—is essential.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hold and operate hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic technical training in automotive or heavy equipment repair is strongly preferred.
  • Basic metalworking and fabrication skills are helpful for in-house repairs.
  • Must maintain a friendly attitude and assist with occasional minor guest vehicle issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance on all Mission Ridge operational vehicles and machinery.
  • Work with all mountain departments to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Identify and repair reported and observed mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
