About The Position

Under general supervision, the Vehicle Maintenance Technician I performs skilled preventative, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the operational readiness of the Purgatory Resort fleet. This role involves the inspection, service, and repair of a diverse inventory of mobile equipment, including snowcats, passenger trucks, snowmobiles, and stationary equipment on a continuing and revolving basis. This is a Full Time, Year Round position that offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K options, and a free season pass for you and your dependents. Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of combined mechanical experience.
  • The experience must specifically be within a ski resort environment.
  • Candidates must have a strong mechanical background and/or aptitude.
  • Solid knowledge of vehicle operation is essential, specifically for passenger trucks and snowmobiles.
  • Ability to lift components up to 75 pounds and perform manual labor in extreme alpine environments.
  • Precision, memory, and tactical discrimination are essential for identifying misaligned gears, hydraulic leaks, or electrical fault codes.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school completion is preferred.
  • Possession of current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute skilled maintenance on company vehicles such as Snowcats (e.g., C-110, C-115), Snowmobiles (e.g., S-7, S-14), and Trucks (e.g., T-181, T-187).
  • Perform routine inspections, Lube-Oil-Filter (LOF) services, and fluid flushes to mitigate downtime.
  • Ensure all work adheres to OSHA compliance and departmental safety guidelines.
  • Complete incoming work orders in a timely fashion and submit daily work reports detailing projects initiated and fulfilled.
  • Identify issues ranging from basic electrical faults (e.g., lighting, battery testing) to mechanical failures in field environments.
  • Maintain personal toolset and ensure shop equipment is used efficiently and safely.
