This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on a variety of utility vehicles and industrial equipment, including generators, forklifts, aerial equipment, cranes, amphibious equipment, off-road digging equipment, passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, medium and heavy trucks, and trailers. Maintenance operations may take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs.

Requirements

Two-year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school
In addition to required education above, two (2) years minimum of related experience
In lieu of the required education, high school diploma AND three (3) years minimum of related experience
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to obtain "CDL Class A" driver's license within a designated (120 days) timeframe
Must be able to respond to emergency situations
Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time
Must be able to work in garage environment with associated noise, fumes and dust and tolerate heights in aerial devices
Must be able to lift and/or push at least 100lbs several times per shift
Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs a distance of at least 25 feet
Repeated bending and twisting are required
This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assists higher classification of technicians with PM’s on all vehicles and equipment.
Performs required State emission inspections.
Assists with Federal DOT inspections.
Adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for DOT inspections.
Provides assistance on dielectric test inspections.
Performs diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers and powered equipment.
Maintains the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.
Performs hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.
Assists with hydraulic component repairs.
Assists with air brake system inspections and repairs.
Assists higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.
Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.
