This position may include rotational travel to 9 garages in the Cincinnati, Ohio/Northern Kentucky region. The role involves performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, medium and heavy trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment. Maintenance operations can take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Must have an Associates degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school; OR at least one year of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in garage environment with associated noise, fumes and dust and tolerate heights in aerial devices.
  • Must be able to lift and/or push at least 100 lbs. several times per shift.
  • Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs. a distance of at least 25 feet.
  • Repeated bending and twisting are required.
  • This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job.
  • This weight restriction must be maintained throughout employment within the Vehicle Maintenance Technician progression.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assist higher classification of technicians with PM’s on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with Federal DOT inspections.
  • Assist on dielectric test inspections.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers, and powered equipment.
  • Maintain the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.
  • Perform hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.
  • Assist with hydraulic component repairs.
  • Assist with air brake system inspections and repairs.
  • Assist higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.
  • Complete all training requirements for Vehicle Maintenance Technician I in the timeframe established by the Company.
  • Travel outside the Company service area for the purpose of training and working within this classification.
