About The Position

This role is for a Vehicle Inspector Apprentice at Cox Automotive - USA, specifically within the Vehicle Operations Job Family Group. The position is an Individual Contributor at the Management Level and does not offer a remote work option, requiring work at a specified Cox location. The role involves verifying vehicle information, identifying damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems through detailed inspections of all customer vehicles upon receipt. This includes inspecting the interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, and engine compartment, noting any damage, repairs, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, and tire condition. The apprentice will also be responsible for preparing and completing all necessary documentation, setting up and performing day-end procedures, and maintaining knowledge of company policies, procedures, system capabilities, and relevant software packages and web-based applications. Key tasks include writing electronic condition reports (ECRs) and conducting OVE courtesy walk-around inspections. The role requires staying updated on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, and inspection techniques, as well as visibly demonstrating a commitment to safety. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Generally, less than 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

Responsibilities

  • Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Set up system for day-end; perform day-end procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
  • Conduct OVE courtesy walks around inspections.
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
  • Maintain a working knowledge on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
