About The Position

Under moderate supervision, responsible for performing maintenance work on assigned vehicles and equipment for the airport and related facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of vehicle and equipment mechanic experience
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B license within six (6) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance and all shop equipment used in vehicle/equipment maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills to diagnose and provide preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to focus with attention to detail when making repairs.
  • Excellent technical aptitude to remain current on diagnostic systems and software applications used to order parts, maintain inventory, and general office products, such as Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, repairs and overhauls engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems for various vehicles, and powered and rolling equipment.
  • Performs inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and the efficient operation of all vehicle and equipment including performing engine tune-ups, oil and fluid changes, replacing filters, tire rotation, and wheel balancing. Maintains records on all work performed.
  • Designs, welds, and fabricates steel.
  • Identifies vehicle and equipment maintenance issues and conducts final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs.
  • Researches availability and cost for replacement parts, completes requisitions and inventories parts and stock equipment.
