About The Position

At OPENLANE, we make wholesale easy so our customers can be more successful. We are looking for a Vehicle Check-in Clerk with experience in coordinating vehicle inventory. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working at a dealership or similar organization, controlling vehicle inventory, and preparing vehicles for transport. This role requires adaptability, dependability, a strong sense of safety, and excellent organizational skills. The Vehicle Check-in Clerk will be responsible for preparing vehicles for auction and remarketing, managing vehicle check-in and check-out, maintaining lot organization and safety, and providing site security support. The position involves operating a variety of motor vehicles safely and working in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's license with a clear driving record
  • Basic computer & smartphone skills
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work in all kinds of weather including severe weather, cold winter temperatures, rain, and summer heat.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to drive both standard & automatic transmissions
  • Qualified/Experienced in operating plow trucks, bobcats, loaders, and/or tow trucks
  • Licensed to operate motorcycles or ATVs

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles for auction and remarketing, ensuring they are in working order (boosting, adding gas, addressing lockouts, preparing for towing, filling tires), staging for reconditioning or transport, and moving, marking, and flagging as instructed.
  • Manage vehicle check-in and check-out, accurately recording services provided, completing inspections of arriving vehicles, photographing vehicles post-reconditioning, and entering vehicle data into the AMS database.
  • Maintain lot organization and safety by ensuring an organized and orderly lot, assisting customers and internal departments in retrieving vehicles, and operating vehicles safely under various weather conditions.
  • Provide site security support by maintaining the auction perimeter and ensuring proper clearance for entry and exit of personnel, customers, and transporters.
  • Assist with data entry for MOS and other systems.
  • Assist with snow removal, which may include clearing vehicles, light shoveling, and operating a plow truck, bobcat, loader, etc.
