About The Position

The Vehicle Acquisition Specialist is responsible for helping Transwest GMC grow its pre-owned inventory by purchasing vehicles directly from customers and auctions. This role focuses on creating a smooth, straightforward experience for anyone looking to sell their vehicle to the dealership. From the first inquiry to the final payment, the specialist will be the point of contact, keeping customers informed, setting expectations, and making the process as easy as possible.

Requirements

  • Perform ride alongs and on-site visits with prospective and existing customers
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Climbing in and out of vehicles
  • Occasional stooping and bending
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 45 lbs
  • Normal range of hearing and vision
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent follow-through skills
  • Professional, responsible and customer oriented at all times
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening

  • Strong understanding of vehicles, including makes, models, and basic mechanical terminology
  • Comfortable multitasking and handling a fast-paced, sometimes high-volume environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • General understanding of how a dealership sales operation works, even though this is not a traditional sales role

Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming trade leads from online sources, phone calls, and walk-in customers
  • Bid on and buy vehicles at various auctions
  • Coordinate transportation of freshly purchased vehicles
  • Follow up on inbound leads from online tools, phone calls, and walk-in traffic with the goal of converting opportunities into purchased vehicles
  • Actively acquire pre-owned inventory by purchasing vehicles directly from customers
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the process to ensure a positive experience
  • Evaluate vehicles in person and determine a fair, market-based offer
  • Walk customers through the process and present purchase offers clearly and confidently
  • Help move deals along quickly, working toward fast turnaround times whenever possible
  • Stay in touch with customers throughout the process so they know what to expect
  • Work with the sales team when a customer is open to trading in instead of selling
  • Handle multiple customers and conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the phone
  • Inspect and evaluate vehicles to determine accurate, market-based purchase offers
  • Make sound buying decisions based on vehicle condition, market demand, and reconditioning costs
