About The Position

As a Vegetation and Wetland Ecologist, you will join our biophysical team to engage on a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects for long-term clients across various market sectors. Klohn Crippen Berger’s biophysical team collaborates closely with geoscientists and engineers to provide environmental and regulatory support for projects throughout Canada. Requirements

6 or more years of applicable experience conducting environmental assessments.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree specializing in Soil Science, Botany, Ecology, Biology, or Environmental Sciences.
Solid understanding of vegetation ecology and wetland science.
Registered or qualify to be registered as a P.Biol. or P.Ag. and an Authenticating Wetland Professional.
Experience planning, leading, and conducting vegetation and wetland surveys.
Proven taxonomic vegetation identification skills including wetland indicators, rare plants, native plants, and introduced and/or weed species.
Ability to prepare and digitize ELC mapping and wetland boundaries by interpreting digital imagery and field data derived from detailed surveys.
Working knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and AGRASID.
Strong understanding of provincial and federal regulatory legislation, guidelines, and regulations.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite®.
Capability with GIS and data management.

Experience and knowledge in various market sectors including water resources, mining, infrastructure, and transportation.
Participation in industry Technical and Professional associations.

Responsibilities

Utilize knowledge of vegetation community and wetland characterization, impact and effects assessments, mitigation management, and habitat reclamation to obtain regulatory permits and approvals.
Collaborate with professionals across multiple disciplines to plan projects, implement environmentally sustainable and innovative designs, manage contractors, and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
Serve as the subject matter expert, providing high-value technical services to foster positive relationships with key clients, both internal and external.
Plan and execute field programs in local and remote sites.
Prepare and review technical reports.
Develop project proposals and budgets.
Participate in global environmental social governance, joint health and safety, or local social committees.
Travel throughout Canada.
