About The Position

QE Solar is seeking Solar Vegetation Technicians to support vegetation management across utility-scale solar sites throughout the Midwest. This is a seasonal, field-based role (May–October 2026) with the potential for long-term opportunities based on performance and business needs. Technicians will perform vegetation control activities including mowing and trimming around solar arrays while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work. This role requires individuals who are comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, and functioning both independently and within a crew environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions (heat, sun, rain)
  • Conversational English required
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification within 14 days of hire (company-supported)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable operating in outdoor environments and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to read maps, aerial imagery, and use GPS tools
  • Awareness of safety practices and hazard identification
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt daily work tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating commercial mowing equipment (zero-turn, riding mowers)
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and repair
  • Familiarity with vegetation management, plant identification, or land management practices

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial riding mowers and zero-turn mowers within solar arrays and open areas
  • Perform string trimming around solar equipment, fencing, and tight access areas
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to protect solar infrastructure and ensure safety
  • Perform daily inspection, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment
  • Identify repair needs and communicate issues to supervisors
  • Track work progress and report field conditions, issues, and safety concerns
  • Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and operational briefings
  • Support additional field tasks as assigned
