Vegetation Technician - UT
About The Position
QE Solar is seeking SEASONAL Solar Vegetation Technicians to support vegetation management across utility-scale solar sites throughout the Midwest. This is a seasonal, field-based role (May–October 2026) with the potential for long-term opportunities based on performance and business needs. Technicians will perform vegetation control activities including mowing and trimming around solar arrays while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work. This role requires individuals who are comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, and functioning both independently and within a crew environment. THIS POSITION IS SEASONAL AND WILL END IN NOVEMBER 2026.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work
- Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions (heat, sun, rain)
- Conversational English required
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification within 14 days of hire (company-supported)
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating commercial mowing equipment (zero-turn, riding mowers)
- Experience with equipment maintenance and repair
- Familiarity with vegetation management, plant identification, or land management practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable operating in outdoor environments and changing weather conditions
- Ability to read maps, aerial imagery, and use GPS tools
- Awareness of safety practices and hazard identification
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt daily work tasks
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial riding mowers and zero-turn mowers within solar arrays and open areas
- Perform string trimming around solar equipment, fencing, and tight access areas
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to protect solar infrastructure and ensure safety
- Perform daily inspection, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment
- Identify repair needs and communicate issues to supervisors
- Track work progress and report field conditions, issues, and safety concerns
- Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and operational briefings
- Support additional field tasks as assigned
