Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Any technical or continuing education in a related field (Forestry, Utility Vegetation Management, and/or Logging).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • CPR / First Aid certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP) certification.
  • Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP) certification.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the arboriculture industry, or military experience plus three (3) years in the arboriculture industry.
  • One (1) year in a trainer or safety position.
  • One (1) year performing work relevant to safety observations.
  • Utility line clearance experience.
  • Training experience within the arboriculture/utility line clearance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the technical discipline for which you are providing safety observations and/or field/yard assessments.
  • Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards, and PG&E Safe Work Practices.
  • Must pass a post-offer background and drug screening.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Credentials.
  • Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Vegetation Management field/yard assessments, focusing on specific areas of skill or knowledge relevant to the VM task(s) being performed.
  • Perform initial and subsequent safety observations and field observations of VM activities, including new and/or difficult skills and techniques.
  • Document and communicate observation results to frontline supervision/leadership using standardized templates and forms.
  • Share outcomes, observations, trends, gaps, and issues with supervisors to help develop and implement mitigating strategies.
  • Address identified gaps and issues to improve observations, coaching tools, processes, and/or materials.
  • Ensure observation processes are followed and observation records are maintained in compliance with CM program requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process and asset recommendations are implemented and maintained.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regional contract escalation resolution.
  • Escalate contractual issues for resolution immediately, at the field level while onsite.
  • Partner with operations to ensure T&E requests are reviewed timely, fairly, and consistently across regions.
  • Partner with contractors to resolve delays in payments, T&E requests, and contractual concerns in real time.
  • Partner with operations to ensure quality and schedule performance align with contract expectations.
  • Partner with operations to identify underperforming contractors and develop recovery plans tied to schedule, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Deliver contract terms, units, definitions, and enforcement training to internal and external partners.
  • Promote a behavior-based safety culture and ensure compliance with client requirements, Cal-OSHA, and any applicable federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
