About The Position

The VDC Specialist II plays a pivotal role in facilitating interdepartmental communication, educating team members on VDC service group concepts, and ensuring seamless coordination of tasks within the organization. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, teaching skills, and effective communication abilities to support project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience with increasing responsibility for project components related to BIM.
  • Knowledge of building codes, LEAN construction techniques, and LEED principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate team members effectively.
  • Should specifically be highly proficient with BIM computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Point Layout, Trimble, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and BIMTrack.
  • With 3+ years’ work experience, the VDC Specialist II is considered a subject matter expert (SME) for virtual construction within the ISAT Total Support employment structure.
  • High level of attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality, and a critical eye for design.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Must pass a background check.

  • Their objective is to effectively populate, coordinate and manage all design and fabrication models on a project level basis for the VDC Service Group.
  • Additionally, VDC Specialist II should be an informational and quality control resource within the VDC Service Group and willing to support content education on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary point of contact for communication between VDC project lead, Project Managers (PMs), client, and various teams.
  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum and foster collaboration.
  • Document and release informational reports which provide management with necessary information to identify status of deliverables.
  • Knowledge of Seismic Design. This includes having the ability to look at a 2D layout and mark up the Seismic Design with few errors.
  • After given a task, use correct Seismic Design to complete a scope of work in 2D or 3D and upon review; rectify all errors from the QA/QC manager.
  • Proficient ability to read and understand ISAT manuals and details, using them to correctly answer questions and use as a better reference for Seismic Design.
  • Use correct Seismic terminology when voicing comments and concerns to your team and supervisor.
  • The ability to create, use and understand the Seismic Bracing Legend and SDF sheet.
  • Understanding the ISAT workflow to ensure a clash-free model.
  • Basic knowledge of schedules and printing sheets.
  • Advance knowledge in Support Design. This includes the ability to manage a larger scope of work and correctly design and model using all resources.
  • Act as a VDC Lead for smaller scopes on projects.
  • Train new hires and help the VDC Technicians with their comments and concerns.
  • Look over completed scopes of work and provide mark ups for issues needing to be revised.
  • Have a direct line of communication to the BIM Lead/ VDC group Manager for all issues related to the project.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry terminology.
  • The ability to explain design concepts to other team members in an easily understandable way.
  • Advance knowledge of all ISAT manuals and details with the ability to quickly comprehend information provided in provided documents.
  • Expert understanding of the ISAT workflow to ensure a clash free model.
  • Confidence in the ability to discuss design issues in internal and external meetings.
  • Advance knowledge of creating and exporting schedules and creating and plotting shop drawings at the end of the scope of work.
  • Advance knowledge of EFS and Prefab libraries on Nexus.
  • Knowing how to import schedules from Revit into Nexus to provided necessary project documents.
  • Ability to create a working model with little to no errors.
  • Provide VDC Service Group education to new hires, covering fundamental concepts and tools necessary for project execution.
  • Proactively identify and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum and foster collaboration. This includes assessing current workflows and ascertain changes or necessary additions to improve them.
  • Coordinate task completion, model synching, and other project activities with peers to ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
  • Manage NEXUS data creation and ensure accurate and timely entry of project-related information.
  • Correct use of naming conventions for all Seismic related content.
  • Be in communication with the PM and group Manager for all issues at the first instance so it can be resolved quickly.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of BIM360, engineering details, and construction industry standards to support project requirements.
  • Conduct peer checks and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices for clash detection and model coordination. This includes demonstrating experience with niche clash and the ability to provide resolutions.
  • Compile material and product quantification reports based on predictive models.
  • Audit, compact, and manage the synchronization backup of models within systems.
  • Facilitate meetings and liaise with project teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment of goals.
  • Provide leadership in modeling oversight and project scheduling to optimize team performance.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction method standard and building codes, including but not limited to IFC, UFC, and CBC, to determine application and provide practical insights into decision-making processes.
  • Detect the need and proper application of both LEAN and LEED construction techniques when appropriate.
  • Capability to model seismic bracing in Revit and evaluate constructability of proposed implementations.
  • Familiarity with ISAT products and solutions, including ISAT hardware and engineered solutions.
