About The Position

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Manager to lead digital delivery on a large, complex infrastructure project with stringent technical, coordination, and security requirements. This role is responsible for overseeing all BIM/VDC activities across the project lifecycle while ensuring compliance with owner standards, construction schedules, and asset management deliverables. The VDC Manager will manage the project VDC team, including a dedicated BIM Specialist and junior VDC engineers. While this is a leadership position, it also requires a manager who is comfortable remaining closely engaged with the technical work, particularly on complex, high-risk, or time-sensitive efforts. This position is well suited for a professional with experience delivering complex, high-security or operationally sensitive projects, who values both strong execution and long-term program development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
  • 3+ years of experience leading BIM/VDC workflows for design and construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic oversight with appropriate technical engagement.
  • Strong understanding of BIM methodologies, coordination workflows, and Level of Development (LOD) standards.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Synchro 4D, and common data environments.
  • Experience working in environments with strict documentation, quality control, and security requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on high-security, mission-critical, or operationally sensitive projects, such as transportation facilities, aviation, utilities, government, or other controlled infrastructure.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting structured development programs.
  • Familiarity with asset management integration and digital handover requirements.
  • Background in civil infrastructure, transportation, or heavy construction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Virtual Design & Construction activities in accordance with project-specific BIM/VDC requirements, standards, and execution plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for BIM/VDC coordination with the Owner and key project stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), ensuring consistent application across all disciplines and partners.
  • Oversee the development and coordination of discipline models, federated models, and construction models throughout all phases of the project.
  • Maintain a working familiarity with active models, coordination issues, and digital workflows to ensure quality and continuity.
  • Provide direct technical support or contribution when project complexity, schedule demands, or risk warrant closer involvement.
  • Support model federation, coordination reviews, and resolution of complex or escalated issues.
  • Guide refinement of BIM/VDC workflows, standards, and deliverables to meet project and owner expectations.
  • Lead 3D coordination and clash detection processes across all disciplines and trade partners.
  • Facilitate regular coordination meetings and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Oversee 4D and 5D modeling efforts supporting construction sequencing, logistics planning, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Ensure digital models accurately reflect construction means, methods, and verified field conditions.
  • Manage monthly and milestone BIM/VDC deliverables, including progress models, federated coordination models, and construction simulations.
  • Ensure appropriate quality control is applied to all BIM/VDC deliverables prior to submission.
  • Oversee development of accurate as-built / as-constructed models suitable for owner turnover and asset management integration.
  • Coordinate validation activities, including integration of survey and laser scan data where required.
  • Manage and mentor a dedicated BIM Specialist and junior VDC Engineers.
  • Support knowledge transfer and skill development through structured tasks, reviews, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the growth and maturity of the organization’s VDC practices, standards, and internal capabilities.
