About The Position

Ryan Companies is hiring a VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Intern in its Chicago, Illinois office. The role is available as a summer internship from May to August or as a spring co-op from May to December. The intern assists the project team with designated projects while learning construction-industry processes, procedures, and Ryan business policies. The position requires 40 hours per week for at least three months; eight months is identified as the ideal duration to learn the role and understand what it means to work for Ryan.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor's degree and within 18 months of graduating with a four-year degree in Construction Engineering/Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, BIM Management, or a closely related field.
Able to work 40 hours per week for at least a three-month term.
Must verify eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

At least one summer of construction-, architecture-, engineering-, or BIM-related work experience.
General knowledge of BIM, construction, scheduling, and 3D modeling.
Ability to read and understand contracts, specifications, and architectural and engineering drawings.
Clear oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop a first-hand understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety.
Assist VDC Engineers and Managers with model management, design coordination, field support, and other project-team requests.
Learn Building Information Modeling (BIM) administration, coordination, and model management.
Assist project teams in creating pursuit materials and other exhibits.
Learn core VDC software and processes, including Autodesk and Adobe products.
Develop and maintain site logistics and schedule-sequencing models.
Partner with project VDC resources and team members to create virtual mockups.
