About The Position

The VDC Engineer leads and supports Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) activities throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. This role serves as the Model Manager for assigned projects and provides technical guidance, coordination, and support to project teams, subcontractors, and clients to improve constructability, coordination, quality, and project execution.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience on construction projects in a role such as Drafter, Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or equivalent. A relevant college education may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
Proven ability to read, interpret, and understand construction plans and specifications.
Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with VDC software, including but not limited to Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, take initiative, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Highly organized, creative, solution-oriented, and team-focused.
Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, leadership capability, and a strong work ethic.
Ability to produce accurate and timely VDC models, shop drawings, and related deliverables.
Commitment to developing and maintaining positive client and customer relationships.

Nice To Haves

FAA Part 107 sUAS (drone) license is a plus.
Experience with or understanding of 3D laser scanning and reality capture methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

Responsible as the “Model Manager” for assigned projects.
Assist VDC Manager in preparing VDC Guidelines (BIMxP) for project specific requirements.
Assist VDC Manager in training project personnel in the use of BIM tools.
Assist the VDC Manager in Project Pursuits with Business Development.
Understand contractual and legal obligations.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Identify conflicts, incomplete or ambiguous design information.
Coordinate with Subcontractors.
Develop models to illustrate contractor questions and solutions.
Coordinate with project team to subcontract assignments to outside vendors.
Compile VDC closeout information as outlined by the Owner/Client.
Manage model change control.
Update as built and revised Building Information Model (as applicable).
Distribute new and revised models showing changes and RFI answers.
Assist the VDC Manager in the development of the design phase schedule including the modeling and coordination schedule.
Prepare 4D simulations as required.
Define scopes of work, evaluate field problems, and assist in issuing RFIs through the field staff.
Update and distribute documents and models to subcontractors and maintain control logs (as applicable).
Manage model coordination meetings, or oversee meetings are supported by field staff, and document project VC meetings (write minutes if there is no field staff support).
Coordinate models with internal and subcontractor details and modelers.
Record coordination sign offs.
Assist project team with construction coordination and scheduling.
QAQC field rough-in relative to the coordinated model.
Publish coordinated models to Procore.
