About The Position
Gilbane is seeking a VDC Engineer to perform constructability and coordination tasks on a project using technology and processes. This role will be based in the office and on job sites as determined by project needs. Gilbane is a family-owned business with 45 offices, founded in 1870, and is a Top-10 ENR Contractor committed to delivering projects safely and on-time. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Information Modeling (BIM) or related field
- 0-3 years of VDC Coordination experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong time-management and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge and proficiency with BIM design software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, In-design)
- Basic understanding of construction documentation
- Knowledge of construction systems
- Receptive and inquisitive about design concepts and integrated building components and systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Knowledge of Baseline and Enterprise VDC standards
Responsibilities
- Completes the quality checks and execution of day-to-day VDC project deliverables and processes
- Communicates with internal and external project teams; facilitates meetings to resolve project issues, review schedules, or other project documentation
- Assigns responsible party(s) for issue resolution; verifies and documents with meeting minutes, submittals, RFIs, and updated models
- Utilizes 3D design software to identify, communicate, and resolve project challenges
- Utilizes Reality Capture technology, such as laser scanning and drones, to support project deliverables
- Combines all building discipline models into coordination model
- Reviews the coordination model for constructability issues utilizing the software’s clash detection capabilities
- Participates in Business Unit (BU) office and department activities including the orientation program, training sessions, and peer group meetings
- Supports 1-3 VDC deliverables under supervision
