About The Position
The VDC Detailer (Intermediate) bridges the gap between junior-level production and senior-level coordination. This role is responsible for producing coordinated 3D models and spool drawings with minimal supervision, ensuring constructability and prefabrication readiness. The Intermediate Detailer participates in clash detection, assists with drawing exports, and supports project coordination.
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Architectural Technology, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in VDC detailing, drafting, or mechanical construction documentation.
- Proficient in Revit; experience with Navisworks and fabrication software is an asset.
- Ability to obtain Reliability clearance; Secret clearance preferred.
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit for modeling, tagging, spooling, and layout drawing
- Basic familiarity with Navisworks for clash review
- Experience with sheet and view management, project browser organization, and model versioning
- Understanding of spool drawing creation and fabrication-readiness
- Familiarity with Trimble layout exports and shop drawing coordination tools
Nice To Haves
- experience with Navisworks and fabrication software is an asset
- Secret clearance preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 3D mechanical models using Revit in alignment with trade-specific standards.
- Prepare spool drawings and support the generation of layout views for prefabrication.
- Participate in clash detection reviews and assist with issue resolution.
- Coordinate with senior detailers and designers to integrate updated consultant and internal feedback.
- Support export and formatting of Trimble or layout drawings for field use.
- Maintain version control across multiple drawing submissions and model iterations.
- Support tracking of system components from digital model through fabrication to on-site installation, ensuring alignment with shop workflows and construction sequencing.
- Mentor junior detailers and provide peer-level quality checks.
