VDC/BIM Detailer - Mechanical Piping & Plumbing
About The Position
Moore's Electrical and Mechanical is seeking a VDC/BIM Detailer for their Altavista Fabrication Hub. This role focuses on developing coordinated, constructible models for mechanical piping and plumbing systems, with an emphasis on moving work from the field into prefabrication. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between modeling and actual construction. While VDC experience is encouraged, experienced plumbers, pipefitters, or mechanical tradespeople with strong computer skills and an interest in VDC are also welcome to apply. The Altavista Fabrication Hub provides a unique environment to see models become real assemblies and collaborate directly with fabrication and installation teams.
Requirements
- Mechanical piping, plumbing, pipefitting, or related construction knowledge.
- Strong mechanical/spatial aptitude and understanding of constructability.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- Revit, Autodesk Fabrication, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar VDC/BIM experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models for mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Participate in VDC/BIM coordination and resolve clashes with other trades.
- Apply constructability and field knowledge when routing and coordinating systems.
- Produce coordinated installation drawings and project deliverables.
- Identify Prefabrication opportunities and support spooling/fabrication workflows.
- Work directly with project, field, VDC, and Prefabrication partners to solve problems and improve processes.
