About The Position

At DKBinnovative, technology is only valuable when it is aligned to what a client is trying to accomplish. The Virtual CIO (vCIO) is the trusted advisor who makes that alignment happen, serving as the strategic technology partner for a portfolio of managed services clients. The vCIO's primary role is to provide planning, budgeting, and strategic direction to clients in relation to information technology and systems. The vCIO builds a business relationship of technology planning and consulting with business owners, executive leadership, and both technical and non-technical decision makers. Working in close coordination with the vCTO team, the vCIO aligns clients to DKBinnovative's standards and best practices, creates recommendations for improvement, and supports technology budgeting by identifying and mitigating business risk.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of technology planning, budgeting, and strategic direction in an MSP environment.
  • Ability to build trusted advisor relationships with business owners, executives, and both technical and non-technical decision makers.
  • Strong cost-benefit and ROI analysis skills for technology investment decisions.
  • Excellent pipeline management and proposal development skills; track record of generating NRR.
  • Cross-functional collaborator who works effectively with vCTO, Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineers, and Sales teams.
  • Clear, executive-level communicator comfortable presenting technology roadmaps to C-suite client contacts.
  • 4-7 years of vCIO, IT leadership, or client advisory experience in an MSP environment required.
  • Broad technology knowledge across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, and business applications.

Nice To Haves

  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred
  • relevant Microsoft, Azure, or vendor certifications preferred
  • Experience with ConnectWise Manage or similar PSA platform preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct vCIO technology steering meetings with clients to identify business and technical risks, present the strategic roadmap, and gather feedback that results in projects moving the client further into alignment over time.
  • Build and maintain deep awareness of each client's technology trends, industry requirements, business applications, and regulatory/compliance obligations. Understand what the client does, how they do it, and what their technology does for them.
  • Plan each client's strategic use of technology over the short and long term, setting lifecycle and strategic budgets 1-5 years in advance.
  • Perform recommendations to achieve both standards alignment and client business goals, and/or mitigate business risks. Set realistic budget and time frame expectations for clients around these recommendations.
  • Quantify and prioritize alignment information from the vCTO team, performing cost-benefit and ROI analysis. Decide the best use of DKBinnovative resources including vetting and establishing vendor relationships to get clients into alignment with standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Solutions Architect and Solutions Engineers to craft solutions fully aligned with client business goals and established best practices.
  • Perform Knowledge Transfer Meetings (KTs) with the Solutions Architect to design and quote projects. Set prioritization for order and timing of Design Desk proposals.
  • Review and deliver project proposals and plans to clients. Manage a pipeline of opportunities, gaining client approvals and adjusting to client needs.
  • Maintain the professional services backlog (approved project hours), report on it, and support achievement of related metrics.
  • Generate Professional Services NRR (non-recurring revenue) through project hours and dollars sold.
  • Provide account management and delivery leadership, communicating concerns to DKBinnovative executive leadership, developing improvement plans, and leading execution to continuously enhance client experience and value delivery.
  • Communicate with DKBinnovative leadership and department leads, keeping teams informed of client changes that will impact delivery areas.
  • Relay major support issues, set team prioritization, and engage in resolution of complex support issues that involve system architecture or industry-specific knowledge.
  • Review and advise on technology standards established and maintained by the vCTO team. Communicate high-impact areas for clients and prioritize alignment activities.
  • Complete vCIO playbook and management dashboards for tracking activities and KPIs.
  • Assist business development teams with capabilities demonstrations to close new logo business.
