About The Position

The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist possesses a working knowledge of specific tasks and procedures associated with Ultrasonography. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with two shift options: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm, or Tuesday-Friday, 7:30 am-6:00 pm, located in Columbus, OH.

Requirements

  • ARDMS registered
  • Completion of course in ultrasound technology and registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • Current certification as required by law
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently input area for imaging
  • Knowledge of equipment, testing, safety, body mechanics, and patient movement
  • Knowledge of department computer and phone systems
  • Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Ability to assist patients on and off exam tables
  • Ability to work on a team and display a positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent relationship building skills

Responsibilities

  • Image patients according to protocols and parameters set forth by department policy or by a Radiologist.
  • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions as needed.
  • Archive patient exams on PACS system.
  • Troubleshoot minor problems that arise with the US unit and the PACS system, seeking assistance from appropriate service personnel when necessary.
  • Stay current on new protocols, software changes, policies and procedures, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and workable working environment at all times.
  • Assure ample stock of linen, processor supplies, and professional supplies.
  • Inform patients of delays or equipment repairs that cause excess waiting.
  • Assist in transporting patients to restroom, patient’s car, or another department whenever necessary.
  • Assist Receptionists and Physicians in finding appropriate time slots for routine patients.
  • Act as a backup for team members who are out of the office, both planned and unplanned.
  • Participate in continuing education applicable to the field and/or self-improvement.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and other miscellaneous mandatory meetings.
  • Assist in training new technologists hired by the center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
