This position operates vascular US equipment to produce scans and physiologic equipment to produce plethysmographic and Doppler waveforms and segmental pressure data for diagnostic procedures in the Vascular Lab. The role involves providing quality patient care, communicating procedures to patients and families, processing paperwork, stocking rooms, and assisting in training staff and students. The technologist is responsible for the clinical care of the patient, assessing their condition, performing appropriate exams, and analyzing data with minimal physician supervision. This includes setting up procedure rooms, obtaining and recording scans, analyzing data, demonstrating knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology, evaluating physician orders, and providing preliminary reports to aid in patient diagnosis and management. Explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation, assisting with patient/family education, and keeping them informed of progress are also key responsibilities.
