Requirements

  • Technical Diploma - Two year ultrasound program.
  • Current and valid Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Current and valid Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) would be considered in lieu of RVT. However, the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required to be obtained within one year of Hire or transfer.
  • 1 - 2 years Vascular scanning.
  • Ability to effectively operate sonography equipment and to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate information.
  • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reg Vascular Technologist-Cert

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree In a related field.
  • 3 - 5 years Vascular scanning.

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas / parts as ordered.
  • Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon.
  • Prepares patient using proper positioning and/or immobilizing and gives them the appropriate instructions regarding the procedure.
  • Ensures quality review of the technologists images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP.
  • Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to the Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon for interpretation.
  • Accurately utilizes the Radiology Information System to enter proper exam coding.
  • Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the Supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Works with ultrasound students to perform exams as well as individual image evaluation.
  • Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in clinical practicum.
  • Keeps abreast of new procedures as they evolve to advance personal understanding and knowledge of the field and disease.
