Requirements

Completion of a training program accredited by the American Medical Association – Committee on Allied Health Education (AMA-CAHEA) for vascular ultrasound, upon hire
Registered Vascular Technologist, within 12 - months
Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Nice To Haves

one year of post-graduate experience in vascular ultrasound and/or demonstrated high degree of proficiency, knowledge, and acuity in the field of diagnostics or ultrasound

Responsibilities

Perform non-invasive vascular diagnostic examinations to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities in arteries and veins.
Prepare patients, operate specialized ultrasound equipment to capture and evaluate high-quality images, and precisely document findings for physician interpretation.
Prepare patient/operate ultrasound equipment and employ techniques/procedures to ensure results are consistent and capture the correct detail of a requested area, per physicians’ direction and in adherence to department protocols.
Question patients and/or review patient charts for facts of patient history which are pertinent to interpretation of ultrasound examinations by the interpreting physician; obtains a brief medical history through interview and review of the patient’s chart; explains testing procedures, allays concerns and elicits patient cooperation.
Ensure examination equipment is maintained and functioning appropriately before the onset of an examination; calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; recognizes and reports the malfunctioning of equipment in accordance with established procedures.
Utilize equipment/accessories determines and sets technical factors (control settings); determines correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution.
Apply gel to the skin of the target area and manipulate an ultrasound probe (transducer) to obtain images of the blood vessels and to assess blood flow; selects and photographs appropriate ultrasonic images for review and interpretation of a physician; ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician or medical floor.
Deliver patient care for all age groups while performing vascular examinations.
