About The Position

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Vascular Technologist utilizes diagnostic ultrasound equipment to perform general and vascular examinations in order to produce ultrasound images of the body for diagnostic purposes and interventional procedures. Exercise good judgment in ascertaining necessary measurements for the area being examined and performs all computer processing for all ultrasound examinations; and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. May act as a mentor for less senior vascular technologists.

Requirements

  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of an approved RDMS program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R).
  • 1 year vascular experience-preferred
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC’s systems
  • RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or RVS - Registered Vascular Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
  • RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vascular ultrasound procedures including: Carotid Duplex Ultrasounds, Pulse Volume Recordings, Peripheral Vascular Arterial studies and Peripheral Vascular Venous Studies.
  • Performs ultrasonic diagnostic echocardiograms in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by our lab.
  • Instructs patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum tests results.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
  • Utilizes and optimizes use of all software applications including PACS system and echocardiographic reporting system.
  • Maintains ultrasound and lab equipment and examination room in appropriate operating condition.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance/control.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
  • Other duties as assigned.
