This position performs all required ultrasound and clinical evaluations at a technical level, maintaining a high standard of medical ethics and self-motivation to increase understanding of vascular disease and new procedures. The role involves performing clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations, using cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of the patient. They also assist with laboratory accreditation maintenance and establish ethical working relationships with patients, co-workers, physicians, and peers. A thorough knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, two-dimensional color flow, and doppler waveform analysis is essential, along with understanding age-related protocols. Excellent communication skills are required for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare workers. This position may involve performing ultrasound procedures for a mobile outreach program and vascular screenings at various locations, potentially including driving Sanford vehicles, flying by aircraft, and occasional overnight stays.
