About The Position

Expertly performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of high complexity to produce quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment, and executing seasoned clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and situations to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department. Schedule will vary starting with training on days shift and then transitioning to evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education/experience
Sonographer Level I: ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Eligible
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
Sonographer Level II: ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
Must possess two (2) of the following certifications for Level II: AB-Abdomen, BR-Breast, FE-Fetal Echocardiography, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology, PS-Pediatric Sonography, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician
Sonographer Level III: ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
Must possess three (3) of the following certifications for Level III (except MFM Sonographers who qualify with one or more): AB-Abdomen, BR-Breast, FE-Fetal Echocardiography, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology, PS-Pediatric Sonography, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician
Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment.
Proficient in performing sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods.
Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS)).

Vascular lab experience
2 years basic clinical and practical experience as typically acquired during an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program (for Sonographer Level I or II)
5 years clinical and practical experience (for Sonographer Level III)
