The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations to evaluate blood flow and vascular structures. This role utilizes specialized ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, assess vascular abnormalities, and support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular conditions. The Vascular Sonographer ensures patient safety, comfort, and adherence to established clinical protocols while delivering exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Vascular Technology, or a related field required.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Previous experience performing vascular ultrasound examinations preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital, outpatient, or vascular laboratory setting preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established departmental protocols.
  • Prepare patients for vascular studies by explaining procedures, reviewing relevant medical history, positioning patients appropriately, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the examination.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, including transducers and imaging systems, to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Evaluate and interpret ultrasound findings to identify vascular abnormalities, including arterial and venous disease, stenosis, occlusions, aneurysms, and other circulatory disorders.
  • Accurately document examination findings, measurements, and preliminary observations in the electronic medical record and reporting systems.
  • Communicate significant or urgent findings to physicians and other healthcare providers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain equipment functionality by performing routine quality control checks and reporting equipment issues as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to support coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain clinical competency and certification requirements.
