About The Position

Performs all vascular lab studies to include advanced level imaging. Provides quality patient care using vascular lab equipment. Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and outpatient settings as schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services. Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal Radiology or Sonography program. Associate degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of Experience in all Vascular Lab imaging to include TCD and/or other advanced level exams. Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.
  • ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) registered
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics
  • Computer skills (word processing)
  • Knowledge of equipment including diagnostic sonography equipment, computer programs, PACS imaging, office equipment (printer/copier/fax machine) etc. preferred

  • Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.
  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, TCD registry; OR five (5) years of dedicated vascular lab experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of equipment including diagnostic sonography equipment, computer programs, PACS imaging, office equipment (printer/copier/fax machine) etc. preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs all vascular lab studies to include the advanced level imaging such as standing venous, renal artery, hemodialyses, steal studies, PSA injections, operative and/or TCD exams as well as specialized research and clinical trials studies.
  • Performs high quality vascular lab exams using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible.
  • Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.
  • Participates in the daily workflow by watching the technologist worklist to ensure timely patient care.
  • Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable.
  • Participates in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.
  • Operates all vascular lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS.
  • Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines.
  • Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service.
  • Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
  • Performs monthly deep cleaning of equipment and maintains appropriate logs.
  • Attends staff and departmental meetings as well as educational conferences.
  • Participates in the discussions.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary.
  • Must be trained at a minimum of three Vascular Lab locations and float as needed.
  • Acts as a clinical preceptor and trains Vascular Sonographers and students.
  • Participates in gathering information for monthly QI meetings and assists in presentations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
