About The Position

This full-time position is located at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. The Vascular Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for ensuring readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, recognizing and reacting appropriately to potential emergency situations, and providing technologist coverage for 24-hour emergency endovascular surgical services. The role involves performing or assisting in procedures, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic exams, as well as maintaining files and compiling records. Additionally, the technologist will provide instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel and patients, perform routine analysis on imaging equipment, and maintain appropriate education and credentials. The position requires the ability to work independently, navigate multiple computer systems, and possess knowledge of vascular anatomy. The work environment may involve exposure to infections, bloodborne diseases, toxic chemicals, and low-level radiation, with occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements. The role requires judgment that could result in the death of a patient and necessitates the use of protective equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Completion of Special Procedures Training Program or one year experience as a technologist in Special Procedures.
  • Completion of one week sterile technique training program to be provided by the OR education coordinator, if no prior Special Procedures experience or with surgical technique.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • CPR certification required - BLS.
  • Good oral, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize clinical responsibilities.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems.
  • Training skills.
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Cardiovascular-Interventional Technologist (ARRT- CV or VI) preferred.
  • RCIS qualified candidate based on program curriculum, relative work experience and interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.
  • Provides technologist coverage for 24-hour emergency endovascular surgical services.
  • Performs or assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams, as well as maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports.
  • Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote and improve quality patient care and maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives.
  • Performs routine analysis on imaging equipment to assure proper working conditions and a minimum of downtime.
