About The Position

Performs vascular sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This role involves patient positioning, performing imaging procedures, analyzing results, and ensuring image quality. The technologist will also review patient history, educate patients, administer contrast media when ordered, monitor patient condition, prepare equipment and supplies, select imaging parameters, implement safety standards, and perform quality control procedures. Troubleshooting and reporting equipment malfunctions are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school OR six months to one year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification issued by the ARDMS, OR Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI, OR Vascular Sonography (VS) issued by the ARRT, OR if non-credentialed, obtain RVT within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
