About The Position

The Vascular Access RN provides expert vascular line access and serves as a resource to staff on vascular access line therapy, IV assessment, products, and procedures. The nurse assists with difficult IV access, identifies patients’ vascular access needs, and coordinates vascular access devices and care for patients in the hospital. The role also involves expanding and coordinating the Vascular Access Program and overseeing regulatory quality metrics. The position is at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. Travel is required. Franciscan Health is a Catholic health care system with 11 ministries and access points across Indiana, focused on providing compassionate, comprehensive care to patients and communities.

Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited program.
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state or as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
Team-oriented approach and willingness to be flexible and dynamic in meeting patient care needs.
Travel is required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) desired.

Responsibilities

Insert and monitor PICC, midline, central line, and peripheral IV sites.
Serve as a resource to staff regarding vascular access line therapy, IV assessment, products, and procedures.
Assist with difficult IV access and identify patients’ vascular access needs.
Procure, deliver, and coordinate vascular access for hospital patients.
Determine the best vascular access device based on medications, current access status, diagnoses, and expected duration of IV therapy.
Use evidence-based protocols to develop or revise clinical pathways, standing orders, and policies and procedures.
Coordinate the Vascular Access Program and its direction, support program expansion, and oversee regulatory quality metrics.
