About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Vascular Access Team at their Level II Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho. This role is for an experienced nurse passionate about building and shaping a specialized program, offering clinical expertise, influencing best practices, and creating a service with a lasting impact on patient care. The position is located at their Regional Medical Center off I-184 and Curtis Rd. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in a high-acuity environment, utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and specialized skills to improve patient outcomes. The Vascular Access Team provides specialized services including assessment, insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting of vascular access devices (VADs) like PICC lines, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance. Team members partner with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based care, serving as a resource for staff education and patient teaching.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed in the State of Idaho as a Registered Nurse as defined by the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound-guided insertion techniques and infection prevention standards.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Vascular Access certification (VA-BC) is preferred or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Prior vascular access experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Insert and maintain vascular access devices using aseptic techniques and ultrasound guidance.
  • Educate patients and families on device care and infection prevention.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff regarding vascular access best practices.
  • Document all procedures and patient education accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Monitor for complications and initiate interventions as needed.
  • Comply with hospital safety policies and infection control standards.
  • Practice within the Idaho State Board of Nursing regulations.
